How to use the Mckennaii Spore Syringe

The Mckennaii spore solution is held inside the syringe by a Luer Lock cap at the end where the needle goes. With this Luer Lock cap attached, it is easier to carry and store the Mckennaii Spore Syringe.

Make sure you work as hygienically as possible. Wear a face mask and sterile gloves and/or sanitize your hands. Hold the Mckennaii spore syringe in front of you with the luer lock cap pointing up. Remove the Luer Lock cap by screwing it counterclockwise. Take the needle out of the sterile package and screw it onto the Mckennaii spore syringe. Shake the spore syringe vigorously for ten seconds before removing the protective needle cap.

Deposit the spore solution on the substrate

After preparing your own substrate or cakes, you can drop the Mckennaii spore solution directly from the syringe onto them. Slowly press the plunger so that drops of spore solution come out of the needle. Each drop that will be in contact with the substrate will be a potential mycelium growth point, so spread these drops all over the substrate to evenly colonize the substrate with mycelium.

How many cakes can you make with a spore syringe?

A 20 cc spore syringe can easily colonize 6 liters / 13 pints of substrate.

Injection through the injection ports

This is almost identical to dropping the spore solution onto the substrate. Open the injection port by pulling on the port protection cap. Use alcohol preparation to sterilize the entrance to the injection port. Pierce the opening with the needle. Now, drop the spore solution evenly onto the substrate inside the spawn bag or grow box. Once the Mckennaii spore solution is injected, remove the syringe and close the injection port with the port protection cap.

Study the spores and do research using a microscope

Seen from a scientific point of view; All Psilocybe cubensis look alike. But they differ slightly in appearance and fruiting speed (phenotype). There are many Psilocybe cubensis that have different phenotypes. These different cubensis are not considered subspecies, but different strains. Mckennaii is a strain of Psilocybe cubensis.

Phenotype differences can be seen with the naked eye, but the real beauty is under the microscope. The wonderful world of spores. Many of our customers are scientists or enthusiasts, researching these differences in a home laboratory. After preparing your microscope slide, place some of the Mckennaii spore solution on it. Cover the specimen with a microscope covering the glass. The best magnification for research on Psilocybe cubensis and Panaeolus cyanescens spores is 1000x or higher.

Using Liquid Culture Media with the Spore Syringe

The special solution in which the spores of Mckennaii cubensis are dissolved, restarts the growth of the mycelium. We do not recommend using liquid growing medium to achieve stronger mycelium. How to store a spore syringe

The Mckennaii spore syringe should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature between 2°C – 8°C or 35°F – 46°F. The shelf life of the spore syringe is at least 12 months after they leave our warehouse.
