How to use the B+ spore syringe

The B+ spore solution is contained inside the syringe by a luer lock stopper at the needle end. With this luer lock stopper installed, the B+ spore syringe is easy to travel and store.

Ensure that you work as cleanly as possible. Use a face mask, sterile gloves, and/or hand disinfectant. Hold the B+ spore syringe with the lever lock stopper pointed upright in front of you. Remove the stopper from the lever lock by unscrewing it anti-clockwise. Remove the needle from its sterile packaging and screw it onto the spore syringe for B+. Shake the spore syringe vigorously for 10 seconds before removing the needle’s protective cap.

Dropping the spore solution onto the substrate

After preparing your own substrate or cakes, you can immediately inject the B+ spore solution from the syringe onto them. Slowly depress the plunger so that drips of spore solution emerge from the needle. Every drop that contacts the substrate will serve as a possible mycelium growth site, so uniformly distribute these droplets around the substrate to populate it with mycelium.

How many cakes can you make with a spore syringe?

One 20-cc/ml spore syringe can easily colonize 6 liters or 13 pints of substrate.

Injection through the injection ports

This is pretty much the same as pouring the spore solution onto the substrate. To open the injection port, pull the port protection cap back. To disinfect the injection port entrance, use alco-prep. With the needle, pierce the hole. Now spread the spore solution evenly around the substrate inside the spawn bag or grow box. After injecting the B+ spore solution, remove the syringe and insert the port protection cover into the injection port.

Study the spores and do research using a microscope

From a scientific point of view, all Psilocybe cubensis are the same. However, their appearance and fruiting rate (phenotype) vary somewhat. There are different distinct phenotypes of Psilocybe cubensis. These several cubensis are not subspecies but rather distinct strains. B+ is a strain of Psilocybe cubensis.

Phenotypic distinctions are visible to the human eye, but true beauty lies under the microscope. After preparing your microscope slide, apply a small amount of B+ Spore Solution to it. Cover the specimen with a covering glass for a microscope. 1000x or more is the optimal magnification for studying Psilocybe cubensis and Panaeolus cyanescens spores.

Using Liquid Culture Media with the Spore Syringe

Add just a few milliliters (drops) of B+ cubensis spores to liquid culture growth medium. 1-2 ml of spores is enough, but add a few more drops just to be sure. We recommend using Sporemate liquid culture vails, but we would like to know how your own liquid culture performs.

How to store a spore syringe

The B+ Spore Syringe should be stored in the refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C, or 35°F and 46°F. The shelf life of the spore syringe is at least 12 months after it leaves our warehouse.
